Seremban State Mosque

Situated near the Seremban Lake Garden, the Seremban State Mosque is actually known as the state mosque of Negeri Sembilan. Built in the late 1960s, the architecture is inspired by the Minangkabau and Modernist styles as seen by the famous peaked roof. Moreover, the nine separate pillars represent the original nine states.

Masjid Dato' Klana Petra Undang Luak Sg. Ujong Nilai

Also referred to as Masjid Putra Nilai, Masjid Dato' Klana Petra Undang Luak Sg. Ujong Nilai was constructed in 2003. It was originally known as Masjid Bandar Baru Nilai before it was changed in 2007. In terms of space, it has the capacity to accommodate the maximum number of 5, 000 congregants. Following a Middle Eastern influence, iIt has three golden domes, a tall minaret, marble finishings and stained glass windows.

Masjid Taman Tuanku Jaafar

Although Masjid Taman Tuanku Jaafar completed construction in 1993, it was only opened to the public a year later. It is recognisable by the giant golden dome and two minarets, along with the brick red arches lining the building. This sacred site has the capacity to accommodate an estimated maximum number of 3, 000 worshippers.

Masjid Rasah

Also plainly referred to as Masjid Rasah, Masjid Jamek Dato' Bandar Haji Ahmad Bin Haji Ali. With the capability of accommodating up to 2, 000 congregants, this holy establishment was founded by the individual it was named after. Although it may look modest in size, the mosque is quite intricately decorated in terms of the exterior.

Masjid Hussain Seremban 2

Officially opened back in 2014, Masjid Hussain in Seremban 2 is a magnificent mosque that was commissioned by Tan Sri Rashid Hussain, a distinguished ex-banker. Regarding the interior space, this impressive structure has the ability to accommodate around 3, 000 worshippers. In addition, this impressive structure has been painted alabaster white which is easy to see from afar.

Masjid Jamek Bandar Seremban

Erected in 1900, Masjid Jamek Bandar Seremban is the oldest mosque in Negeri Sembilan. Founded by the state government, the architecture of this deep red-coloured mosque stands out from the others because it incorporates the Minangkabau and ancient Malacca mosque design with its multi-tiered pyramidal roof and minaret that mirrors a lighthouse. It also has the capacity to fit an estimated 2, 000 worshippers.

Masjid Sri Sendayan

Another remarkable and enormous mosque that was recently constructed in 2019 is Masjid Sri Sendayan. Also donated by Tan Sri Rashid Hussain, this beautiful white sacred building is the largest mosque in Seremban as it stretches across 4.5 hectares of land. Due to its pristine colour, it is also referred to as the ‘White Mosque’ and can accommodate 5, 000 people at any given time.

Then Sze Koon Temple

Located at an estimated 127 metres above sea level at the top of Wu Gong Hill, get ready to take 264 steps to reach the 140 year old Then Tze Koon Temple. It has also been nicknamed ‘Centipede Temple’ due to the symbolic giant stone statue of the creature erected here.

With a three-storey pagoda housing a laughing Buddha statue on the top floor, the other statues or deities erected in the vast compound include the God of Marriage or Yue Lao, Guan Yin and the Eight Immortals. There is also a beautiful pavilion devoted to Guan Di and a golden toad statue with a coin in its mouth near a koi pond that visitors can pray to for wealth and good fortune.

In order to see the huge statue resembling him, visitors will have to climb a long flight of stairs before crossing the suspension bridge connecting to the other side of the hill. Wan Loong Temple

Possessing an opulent architecture and grandiose fortress walls, the beautiful Wan Loong Temple is constructed in the form of a colourful giant dragon. This is unsurprising as ‘Wan Loong’ translates to ‘Dragon of the Clouds’. The main deities worshipped here are Kuan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) and Sun Wukong (Monkey God).

Visitors can also find statues of iconic figures from the literary classic, Journey to the West, here such as Xuan Zang and Zhu Bajie. Within the compound, marvel at the perfectly manicured shrubs, pretty archways and koi fish pond that decorate the garden as you take a stroll along the ‘Great Wall’ of the temple. Sri Balathandayuthapani Temple

Originally constructed in 1895, Sri Balathandayuthapani Temple is considered to be the one of the oldest buildings in Seremban. As indicated by the name ‘Balathandayuthapani’, the main deity that is worshipped here is Lord Murugan. Developed by a businessman, this beautiful temple was primarily built for the use of the local Chettiar community.

Although the intricately carved raja gopuram (multi-tiered tower) was originally left in a monotone shade of sandy brown, it has recently been painted with many vibrant colours that can be easily seen from afar. There is also a small landscaped area filled with greenery in the front entrance.

Arulmighu Maha Sapthakanniga Devi Temple

Overlooking Seremban town, the Arulmighu Maha Sapthakanniga Devi Temple is a modest yet charming Hindu temple located on the top of Bukit Kepayang, or Victoria Hills. This 100-year-old temple is believed to be the one and only Kanniamman temple in the country. It is also referred to as ‘Kepayang Hill Kanni Kovil’ or ‘Virgins’ Temple’.

The latter would be more telling about the deities housed here as “Sapthakanniga” translates to “seven virgin goddesses”. To be more specific, they consist of Biramme, Mageswary, Gaumaree, Vyshnavi, Varaagi, Magenthree and Samundy. Sri Aarunachaleswarar Sivan Temple

In comparison to the many vivid colours used to decorate most Hindu temples, the Sri Aarunachaleswarar Sivan Temple distinguishes itself by its singular, alabaster white paint covering both the interior and exterior walls. Although it was officially registered in 1990, this sacred building has actually been operating for nearly 40 years. As implied by the name, Lord Shiva is the main deity worshipped here. He is also known as Annamalayar to devotees.

Church of the Visitation

Established way back in 1848, the stunning Church of the Visitation was founded by French missionaries for the local Catholic community. In fact, it is the oldest parish operating under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. The term of ‘Visitation’ is believed to be in reference to the missionary stops made by Father Letessier.

Gurdwara Sahib Seremban

Constructed around 1900, Gurdwara Sahib Seremban was established by the small Sikh community that resided in Seremban town. It was originally erected as a single-storey building with an attap roof and plank walls near the railway station and the King George V school field. Five years later, it was moved to its present location.
